Firefox on the Up
by leon on October 8, 2007
Just had a little look on my Google Analytics reports and so far 94% of visitors of this site use either Firefox or Mozilla compliant browsers. Not really that interesting just a big fat two fingers at the IE users out there, that truly believe its the ‘only’ browser. Do yourselves a favour and go grab a copy of Firefox. Read my other posts about great Firefox add-ons that extend the power of the great browser. Enjoy and thanks for visiting!!
Go away Windows!!
by leon on October 8, 2007
Carrying on with the rant against all things Microsoft here is a little list of things that really annoy me about Windows. There are many more, so why not add your own!! I am now totally converted to Mac and use my Dual Core Windows machine only to watch films and DVD’s though my HD tv – it’s not even good for that (roll on MacMini hook up). If your wondering, I am an experienced Windows PC user and not some novice who doesn’t know what he’s doing. I was an avid Windows fan for many years, but in the end I had enough. This isn’t intended to wind up windows users.
(Windows fans, don’t bother trying to defend your weak and feeble excuse for an OS. I’d be more productive with a chalk and black board – at least it wouldn’t crash. Mac OS is not perfect, but it sure beats Vista/XP!!)
- Why do you tell me I have performed an illegal operation, when I try to open a file!! It’s not illegal, you just don’t know what you’re doing Windows.
- Why does it take 10 minutes to start up? How many different Windows start up screens do I really need to watch?
- Why when I un-install an application is it still in the Program Files folder. I want to delete you, not hide you!!
- Why do you try and launch new file formats and then not make them native to other systems (.avi, .wmv, .wma)??
- A app crashes. No problem i’ll just launch Task Manager – Oh wait, thats crashed too!!
- Why do I have to click START to turn off my machine?
- Why did you ever create IE – it simply doesn’t work and isn’t standards compliant. Just when there are hacks for IE6 to work, you bring out IE7- which is even WORSE!!
- Vista took 6 years and a hell of a lot of money to build, so why doesn’t it work. Its a great big step backwards. Its my bloody machine, if I want to install something – let me, don’t ask me 5 million times!!
- Why do you re-release old software in a new box – Expression Web, who are you kidding, it looks just like FrontPage!!
- Why does my machine get slower the longer its running for. Can you not handle the RAM properly?
- Why don’t you give me some useful help. i.e. “You do not have permission……” its my fuckin machine, ofcourse I have permission!! Jesus!!
- Why do I have to re-start my machine just to get my printer working??
Please note these are my views and opinions. I know how to use Windows, so please don’t add any silly comments saying that I don’t know what i’m doing!!
Why I hate Microsoft so much
by leon on October 8, 2007
I’ve had it with Microsoft – over the weekend I was trying to do a simple task – record some video from my TV card and burn it to disc. With my Mac, this would hav taken 10mins max. However I did not have he fortune of using it so instead had to revert back to my Dinosaur (2.4 GHz AMD Athlon 64 bit with 2GB RAM!! I say Dinosaur as my 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo Mac, sh*ts on it).
Anyway, I open up the TV software and begin recording. After I have finished I play it back – opens in Windows Media Player fine. No problems I thought!!
I open up Windows Movie Maker and try to import the video – big effort. I recieve an error message saying i don’t have the correct codecs – what the fuck – I just played it and recorded it on this machine!!!
Then the PC crashes – bearing in mind this is a pretty quick dual core. I get the usual message that ‘I have performed an illegal operation’ – tell me, whats illegal about trying to get Windows to work (the only illegal thing was buying it in the first place).
Frustration, I then tried to send the file to my Mac over the network to see if I could burn it on there. Opps, silly me – I get a message saying I don’t have permission to access my network and to contact my network administrator (that would be me then)!!
If I don’t have permission and its my machine, then who the fuck does!!
The verdict – my PC is now on eBay (13 watchers last time I checked, who wants a Windows machine I don’t know) and the money is going towards a new iMac.
Oh, by the way – the file recorded fine on my Mac – just goes to prove, Windows is a pile of shit and don’t even start me on Vista!!
We hate Vista

A friend passed this on to me. I couldn’t stop laughing – genius. I’ve never realised how stupid windows is. To turn it off, we have to click on start.
Here’s the video – enjoy
Black History Month
by leon on October 1, 2007
The month of October see’s the annual Black History Month celebrations in the UK. Ofcourse you don’t have to wait until October to celebrate being a black british youth. There is too much negative press about Black youth’s in the press, and unfortunately not enough about the positive youths who are making a difference to people’s quality of life.
Youth projects such as B-Ballers, hopes to raise the aspirations of youths, from all creeds, cultures and backgrounds in order to create a better community for all. Further information on B-Ballers can be found by emailing the founder – Leon Gordon.
Whether you are Black or not, be sure to take part in your local Black History Month activities, and lets join forces as one United Kingdom to end racism and racist abuse.
More info can be found on the BBC Radio 1Xtra site

Firefox Switch Proxy Tool
by leon on September 28, 2007
Do you connect to various internet connections that require different proxy settings? Are you fed up of having to manually change these proxies all the time?
The Switch Proxy Tool, for Firefox is the answer. It allows you to create profiles for each proxy and quickly and easily change between them. This is a must if you are switching between a Uni and Home connection (TIC!!).
Hope this helps you
Hack the Digg code
by leon on September 26, 2007

Ive come up with a way to allow you to get maximum Diggs to your post, and therefore drive maximum traffic to your site.
It involved months and months of ‘work’ so if you would like to know how, add a comment and I will contact you that way.
This is not illegal, just an expriment that I thought would be interesting to share with people. When you find out what it is, hopefully it will make you smile.
