AS3 From The Ground Up

I’m all recovered from the mammouth trip to London yesterday to take part in Colin Moock’s ActionScript 3.0 FromThe Ground Up Tour. It was a full on 9hour lecture on ActionScript 3.0 which was useful for both first time developers and seasoned pro’s.
The day started for me at 3.30am, as I had to be up and in Birmingham to catch the 5.00am coach and ended when I got back through my door at almost 10pm. But believe me the day was worth it.
I have read the book by Colin, but having him explain it, made things so much more clearer. Even with all of the advances in eLearning (some of which I am part of) nothing can replace the knowledge gained from real human interaction.
The day provided the opportunity for lots of questions from the delegates that attended. I managed to talk to two Adobe representatives that told me that Flash may not be coming to the iPhone at all!! This came as a bit of a shock, however phones that do have Flash support (my old N73) use Flash Lite, a stripped down version of Flash. It is rumoured that Apple either want an all or nothing solution. While were on the iPhone, I managed to get a full 16hours battery life, which included playing the iPod all the way down to London. I kept getting warnings that my battery was at 20% but it seemed to just keep lasting.
There were also talks about a Flash based version of Photoshop and how in the future, the Flash SDK would be writtin in Flash itself.
All in all, a very entertaining and educational day!
